Abstract

: This study aims to describe the cognitive learning outcomes of students through the application of the POE2WE learning model and to determine the increase in cognitive learning outcomes of students between classes that apply the POE2WE learning model and classes that apply the conventional learning model. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The sample consists of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class, each with 35 students. The results of the study showed that based on the descriptive data analysis, the experimental class obtained an average cognitive learning outcome score of 83 in the very high category, while the control class obtained an average score of 72.7 in the high category. Based on the inferential data analysis using the Independent Sample T-Test, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained, which is smaller than 0.05. Thus, this study concludes that the POE2WE learning model is able to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes and there is a significant increase in cognitive learning outcomes in classes that apply the POE2WE learning model.
